MGW Glock Sight Tool Review: The Gunsmith-Grade Pusher, and Who Actually Needs It
Ask a gunsmith what sight pusher they use and the answer is usually MGW. The Sight-Pro is the universal shop tool; the Glock angled sight installation tool reviewed here is the same philosophy applied to one platform: machined steel, a shoe cut exactly for Glock-style angled rear sights, and no flex anywhere in the load path. It costs more than the budget Glock pushers and it only does Glocks. Whether that is worth it depends on how often you push sights and what the sights cost.
Verdict
Buy it if you install Glock sights regularly, for yourself or others, or you are installing expensive tritium sights and want zero risk to the vial. Skip it if this is one sight change on one Glock; the Pridefend Glock pusher does it for less. Mixed safe? MGW’s Sight-Pro (MidwayUSA, Brownells) or the Wheeler.

The MGW lineup, explained
- MGW Sight-Pro. The universal, shop-grade pusher. Sold through MidwayUSA and Brownells, not Amazon. Takes model-specific shoe plates for dozens of pistols.
- MGW Glock angled sight installation tool (this review). Dedicated to Glock OEM-style angled rear sights. On Amazon.
- MGW309S. The Glock tool for the minority of Glock rear sights with flat sides. On Amazon. Check your sight’s back face before choosing between the two.
- MGW shoe plates for Beretta APX, Sig and others, for the Sight-Pro.

Why it costs more
Budget Glock pushers are cast aluminum with a steel tip and a separate shoe insert. The MGW is machined steel with the shoe geometry cut into the tool. There is no insert to seat wrong, no aluminum frame to flex under a seized sight, and no threads to strip. The sight moves in a straight line every time. For a shop pushing twenty sights a week that consistency is the point. For a home user it is insurance on the sight.

What owners say
Roughly 250 owners on Amazon and the complaints are few: the price, and buyers who needed the flat-side MGW309S instead. There are essentially no stripped-thread or crooked-install reports, which is the whole argument for it. The standard procedure still applies: loosen set screws, degrease, tape the slide.

MGW vs the alternatives
Vs Pridefend Glock: same job, Pridefend is cast aluminum with a steel block and costs much less; fine for occasional use. Vs Wheeler: Wheeler is universal and nearly as solid; MGW is more precise but Glock-only. Vs Sight-Pro: the Sight-Pro is the universal version of this tool at a higher price, bought through Midway or Brownells. Every option is ranked in best sight pusher for Glock and the full sight pusher roundup.

FAQ
Is the MGW Sight-Pro on Amazon?
Not as a stand-alone tool. It is sold through MidwayUSA and Brownells. MGW’s Glock-specific tools and shoe plates are on Amazon.
Angled or flat MGW Glock tool?
Look at the back of your rear sight. Angled (Glock OEM, Trijicon, Ameriglo, most aftermarket) = angled tool. Flat sides = MGW309S.
Is MGW worth it for one Glock?
For one sight change, no. For regular sight work or expensive tritium sights, yes.
