Pridefend Glock sight pusher review for Glock square slides

Pridefend Glock Sight Pusher Review: Why the Glock-Only Tool Beats Most Universals on a Glock

Universal sight pushers are a compromise, and on a Glock the compromise shows: flat shoes slip on the angled rear sight, and clamps sized for “any slide” rock on a square one. The Pridefend Sight Pusher for Glock Square Slides makes no compromise because it fits nothing but Glocks. That is its whole appeal, and over a thousand owners later it is the Glock-only pick in our best sight pusher for Glock guide. Here is what it fits, what it does not, and the two things to watch.

Verdict

Buy it if every pistol you will ever push sights on is a standard-width Glock. Skip it if you own anything else, or a G43/43X/48 is your main Glock; buy the Wheeler or Pridefend’s adjustable-base universal instead.

What it does well

It clamps a Glock square and does not rock, because the jaws are shaped for exactly that slide. The angled shoe spreads force across the sight body so OEM polymer and aftermarket steel sights move without being crushed. The push block is steel, so the stripped-thread complaints that dominate budget universal reviews are rare here. Setup is faster than a universal because there is nothing to adjust.

Two things to watch

  • Gen 5 front serrations. Clamp behind them so the jaws sit on flat steel. Clamping on the serrations lets the slide rock and marks the finish.
  • Slimline slides (G43, 43X, 48). The clamp is sized for standard-width slides. On slimlines it can sit off-center and put the shoe on the slide top. Some owners make it work; the adjustable-base Pridefend universal is the safer buy for slimlines.

What owners complain about

Reading the low reviews: the majority are from people who bought it for a non-Glock despite the name. The rest split between slimline fit and shoe placement (pushing on the blade instead of the body). Set the shoe on the sight base and follow how to use a sight pusher and the second group disappears.

Pridefend vs MGW vs Real Avid

MGW Glock angled tool: machined, model-specific, the gunsmith version of the same idea; better, and more than one Glock owner needs. Real Avid Universal Glock pusher: also does dovetailed front sights and some non-Glocks; the better buy if you will ever own a second brand. Pridefend universal (adjustable base): same company, fits slimlines and non-Glocks, a little more setup. All four are compared in best sight pusher for Glock.

FAQ

Does the Pridefend sight pusher fit Gen 5 Glocks?

Yes. Clamp behind the front serrations.

Does it fit the Glock 43X or 48?

Marginally. The clamp is sized for standard slides; the adjustable-base universal is the better choice for slimlines.

Does it do the front sight?

No, and it does not need to. Glock front sights are removed with a 3/16-inch nut driver.
